1. The short skater
Skater dresses or A-line dresses are favorites of women everywhere because they have the perfect fit-and-flair silhouette and give you and hourglass shape. But they’re also quite short and oftentimes cut in a full circle – neither is good for cold, windy days. But you can still absolutely rock them. Go for darker, fall colors and pair the dress with a thick pair of tights or leggings to give you protection from both the wind and the cold. To make it even more fall-themed, pair it with a felt hat and boots, and if the dress is sleeveless, make sure you add a jacket over it or a long-sleeve shirt underneath.
2. Fit and flare midi
Channel your inner country girl with a flowy midi dress. Make sure it’s a muted color like dark brown or burgundy and that it has sleeves. This is a great transitional piece. Put it together with a pair of high boots in a contrasting color and make sure they’re high enough so that the tops of them are covered by the dress. A jacket can be tricky to wear with a sleeved dress, especially if the sleeves are flowy, because they will bunch up and create a strange shape, but a dress like this will allow you to wear something like a vest with ease and make it look effortlessly chic.
3. Special event
When you need to be somewhere special and look the part – you’ll need a special dress. Picking a good evening dress can be tricky, but there are a few basic rules like: you can’t go wrong with black. Stick to darker colors because they will always look more formal. Find a website with a large selection of gala dresses and choose one that still fits your style. A look that will always look good is a structured midi dress – something with a lot of volume and a lot of waves.
4. Dark floral
A big hit this autumn is going to be one that we see pop up in autumn every few years, and that’s dark florals. It takes the narrative of florals being a spring/summer pattern and flips it on its head by giving us a dark pattern to wear when the leaves turn golden. You will definitely see dark florals all over the shops this autumn, so make sure you pick them up because there are so many ways to style and wear dark florals and they look good for all occasions. If you want some variety, get one with a larger pattern and one with a tiny one to have options.
5. Thick material
Length and coverage aren’t the only things that can keep you warm. Thick materials like scuba and the Boohoo signature heavy pique are perfect for fall. Go for body-con and don’t be afraid of hugging your curves, because thicker materials will just smooth you out perfectly. They will keep you warm even without layers and if you pair them with a pair of nice boots and a decorative scarf, you have the perfect outfit for a night out with friends.
6. Everyday business
Is your personal work uniform a dress? Did you spend the summer in amazing belted maxi dresses and now you’re really not sure what to do? Don’t fret: go for solid-color midi dresses with either a pencil skirt or a half-circle flare skirt. Go for sleeveless with thick straps and pair it with a blazer for a power look. Add a pair of court shoes and your favorite bag to complete the look and you’re ready for work. And if you’re younger and can get away with crazier patterns and combinations, experiment with wearing your summer dresses well into fall and winter through layering for a really unique look.
